Alt Games Portal started as a place to discover and play instant web games, but over time I moved it toward an agentic AI game builder and sharing platform where users can create playable games from prompts or images.
What changed
The product shifted from being a collection of games into a creation loop: generate, try, share, and discover. That changed the engineering work from catalog and discovery flows into user-generated content, AI-assisted creation, and product trust.
What I learned
The biggest lesson was that software developers often find flexible tools, technical novelty, and powerful abstractions fascinating, while real users care more about whether the result is quick, fun, understandable, and worth returning to.
Why it matters
That lesson changed how I think about AI products. The model output is only one part of the experience; the real product is the loop around it, including onboarding, defaults, sharing, feedback, and the small details that help users feel the feature is for them.
Published mobile product that evolved from instant-game discovery into AI game creation and sharing.
