Pico W AC Controller
A Pico W smart AC controller that generates reverse-engineered Fujitsu IR commands and exposes the air conditioner through Homebridge and Apple HomeKit.
What it does
Lets a Fujitsu air conditioner be controlled from HomeKit and Homebridge by exposing REST endpoints that generate exact IR commands instead of relying on fixed remote recordings.
Key Highlights
- Reverse-engineered the Fujitsu AR-RFL5J 144-bit IR protocol.
- Exposes HTTP endpoints compatible with the Homebridge WebThermostat plugin.
- Generates dynamic IR commands for mode and temperature instead of replaying fixed captures.
- Adds hardware feedback with a servo vent actuator and color-coded NeoPixel status display.
- Includes capture, replay, raw hex, self-test, and status endpoints for protocol development.
Role and Contributions
- Decoded the original remote signal into a reusable Fujitsu IR command model.
- Built the Pico W firmware for WiFi, REST endpoints, mDNS, IR send/receive, servo, and LED status.
- Integrated the controller with Apple HomeKit through Homebridge.
- Documented the protocol, wiring, Homebridge config, setup steps, and roadmap.
