Pico W Room Controller
A Pico W smart room controller for Fujitsu AC, ceiling lights, and TV controls with a local web dashboard, Homebridge/HomeKit integration, and OTA firmware updates.
What it does
Turns a Raspberry Pi Pico W into a local room automation hub: it generates reverse-engineered Fujitsu AC commands, toggles ceiling-light modes, learns TV remote buttons, and exposes everything through browser and HomeKit controls.
Key Highlights
- Reverse-engineered the Fujitsu AR-RFL5J 144-bit IR protocol with dynamic command generation and checksum handling.
- Controls Fujitsu AC, ceiling-light normal/night modes, and learned TV remote actions from one Pico W.
- Serves a dark-mode browser dashboard for AC controls, light state, TV buttons, IR learning, and sensor calibration.
- Uses the RP2040 dual-core setup so WiFi and HTTP work can run separately from continuous IR receiving.
- Persists learned TV codes and light thresholds in EEPROM and supports ArduinoOTA wireless firmware updates.
Role and Contributions
- Decoded the original Fujitsu remote signal into a reusable command model instead of relying on fixed recordings.
- Built the Pico W firmware for WiFi, mDNS, REST endpoints, IR send/receive, light sensing, TV learning, EEPROM state, and OTA flashing.
- Integrated the AC, light switches, powerful mode, and TV actions with Apple HomeKit through Homebridge plugins.
- Documented the firmware architecture, hardware wiring, REST API, Homebridge configuration, setup flow, and roadmap.
